diana schlegel scholarship fund
at reunion we were thrilled to announce the launch of the diana schlegel alumni/ae endowed scholarship fund. the diana schlegel alumni/ae scholarship will be awarded annually to one student who demonstrates the ability to derive maximum benefit from the philosophy and curriculum at doane stuart, possesses the ability to contribute to the doane stuart community, has a love for learning and an appreciation of the arts.
since july 2014, when diana lost her battle with ovarian cancer, diana’s good friend angela ryan ledtke ’96 wanted to do something to honor her memory and to help the school diana loved so much. at reunion, angela spoke to the alumni/ae about how each alum shares something special. angela reminded everyone that their experiences and time at kenwood, st. agnes and doane stuart provided them with a strong foundation. for this, everyone is forever grateful.
angela talked about how each institution provided all with the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge, to learn in love and to form lasting friendships. she said, “in my five years at doane stuart, i created bonds with many kind, empathetic and generous individuals. it is quite an honor to not only call them my friends but stand beside them always in this family.”
the diana schlegel scholarship will memorialize all alumni/ae. whether one graduated in 1958 or 2025, they have received the benefit of the love, generosity and the wealth of knowledge that comes from our school’s rich heritage. we hope you will consider remembering your loved ones – our family members – by donating as we kick off the diana schlegel alumni/ae scholarship fund. our hope is to someday share the legacy of joy, love, friendship and knowledge, onward to a new generation of students in our ever-growing family.
